Join our dynamic team as an HR Coordinator, serving as a key brand ambassador and supporting vital HR functions within a leading poultry genetics company.
📝 Position Purpose
Collaborating closely with the Select Genetics Virginia team, this role provides comprehensive human resource services, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits, employee development, safety, and employee services. The HR Coordinator will work to align HR practices with organizational needs and foster a team-oriented environment while embodying the company's unique culture.
⚙️ Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate as a key resource and internal coach to leadership and staff in developing and implementing effective HR policies, processes, and practices.
- Facilitate the recruitment and onboarding of new employees.
- Collaborate with managers to identify talent needs, create job specifications, and define skill requirements.
- Ensure human resource practices comply with federal and state laws.
- Manage employment offers and complete all new employee recordkeeping.
- Build and maintain strong work relationships, boosting morale, productivity, engagement, and talent retention.
- Maintain proactive communication channels with employees regarding important updates.
- Implement, follow up on, and document disciplinary actions.
- Manage employee terminations, including documentation and exit interviews.
- Oversee pay scale adjustments in accordance with company policies.
- Support the benefits program and administer annual benefit open enrollment.
- Conduct or facilitate employee training sessions.
- Coordinate workers’ compensation processes at the location.
- Assist with insurance investigations and related tasks.
- Undertake additional duties and projects as assigned by the supervisor.
- Provide cross-training with other office personnel for essential duties.
🎯 Principal Accountabilities
- Willingness to learn and understand HR principles and practices.
- Proficient in computer-based systems and MS Office applications.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and judgment skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.

🎓 Education, Experience, Skills & Knowledge
- Two-year associate degree or over 3 years of relevant HR experience, or equivalent education and experience.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent bilingual communication skills in English/Spanish, including verbal, written, and listening skills.
- Ability to interpret company policies, work under pressure, and handle multiple demands effectively.
- Commitment to confidentiality and high ethical standards.
