Position Summary
We're seeking an enthusiastic professional to join our growing, award-winning team at the forefront of sustainable housing on Long Island. This role is perfect for someone with experience in human services, education, community outreach, or banking, who excels in customer and client service. At CDLI, our fundamental pillar is “Community Development and Housing for All”. To achieve this, we offer comprehensive housing counseling and educational programs through our Homeownership Center.
This position centers on education, client engagement, and community service delivery. The educator will provide bilingual support (English and Spanish), conduct workshops and presentations at CDLI and partner sites, and actively engage with community members in the field. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is essential to meet program and outreach needs. 🌍🤝
Responsibilities
- Conduct client intakes: Provide personalized education, guidance, and support for pre- and post-purchase clients seeking homeownership assistance in English and Spanish.
- Lead educational sessions: Facilitate group classes, workshops, and seminars, utilizing PowerPoint presentations, including bilingual sessions as needed.
- Present and facilitate: Lead classes and outreach activities at CDLI and various community locations such as employers, libraries, schools, and municipal offices.
- Community engagement: Interact with clients and community members in a professional, welcoming manner, promoting awareness of CDLI services and encouraging program participation.
- Respond to inquiries: Address client questions in both English and Spanish, monitor progress, and provide early intervention for affordability and delinquency issues.
- Administrative support: Maintain client records, enter data into multiple databases, schedule appointments, generate reports, and notify clients of meetings bilingually as needed.
- Assist with documentation: Help clients prepare documentation related to housing affordability, household budgets, and action plans, including mortgage and loan modification paperwork, in both languages.
- Coordinate with partners: Support clients through external agencies by preparing necessary documentation and ensuring clear bilingual communication.
- Representation and outreach: Uphold a professional image of CDLI in the field and assist with initiatives that expand access to our services within the community.
- Flexible hours: Availability for evenings, weekends, and field-based community work as needed.
Requirements
- Fluency in English and Spanish: Both written and spoken communication are essential for effective engagement with diverse clients and partners.
- Relevant experience: Background in client education, workshop facilitation, community engagement, outreach, or related services preferred.
- Public speaking skills: Comfortable presenting and conducting workshops at CDLI and community sites.
- Technical proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Interpersonal skills: Strong ability to build rapport, engage customers, and foster partnerships.
- Organizational abilities: Proactive, detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple responsibilities amidst changing priorities.
- Communication skills: Excellent written and oral communication.
- Self-motivated: Able to work independently and remotely when necessary.
- Willingness to be flexible: Adaptable to work evenings, weekends, and in various community settings.
