Role and Purpose 🎯
Provide students with engaging learning experiences in core academic subjects, fostering their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development. Enable students to develop essential competencies for success in a global society.
Qualifications & Certifications 📜
- Education: Bachelor's Degree
- Certification: Valid Texas teaching certificate for the assigned subject/level
Knowledge, Skills & Language Proficiency 🧠🗣️
- Knowledge of assigned subjects and bilingual language (French or Spanish preferred)
- Understanding of curriculum and instructional strategies
- Ability to instruct students and manage classroom behavior effectively
- Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
Major Responsibilities & Duties 📋
Instructional Strategies 🎓
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum and instructional framework, with documented evidence of preparation.
- Collaborate with partner teachers in planning activities for dual language and campus instructional goals.
- Design lessons accommodating various learning styles and needs, including gifted, bilingual/ESL, and special education students.
- Deliver subject content following TEA guidelines, district policies, and administrative regulations.
- Utilize available data to tailor instructional strategies and materials for individual student needs.
- Assess student learning styles and modify instruction accordingly.
- Coordinate with special education teachers to adapt curricula according to IEPs.
- Maintain records related to language acquisition and accommodations.
- Participate in extended day/year programs and supervise teacher aides and volunteers.
- Integrate technology to enhance teaching and learning experiences.
Student Growth & Development 🌱
- Assist students in analyzing and improving study habits and methods.
- Conduct ongoing assessments through formal and informal testing to monitor achievement.
- Support extracurricular activities and serve as a positive role model aligned with the district’s mission.
Classroom Management & Organization 🏫
- Create a safe, nurturing, and conducive learning environment.
- Manage student behavior following school policies, student handbook, and IEPs.
- Ensure safety precautions are in place to protect students, staff, and resources.
- Select appropriate instructional materials and resources.
Communication & Collaboration 💬
- Establish open communication with parents, students, staff, and community members through meetings, digital media, and showcases.
- Maintain professional relationships and effective communication channels.
Professional Growth & Development 📈
- Stay current in subject matter expertise, instructional strategies, and language acquisition.
- Participate in staff development programs, including at least 3 days of specialized training beyond district requirements in dual language education or related areas.
- Complete TEA-mandated Reading Academy if applicable for K-3 teachers.
