Role and Purpose 🏫

  • Provide engaging learning activities in core academic subjects to help students reach their full potential in intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development.
  • Assist students in developing essential competencies and skills to succeed in a global society.

Qualifications 🎓

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate for the assigned subject/level

Special Knowledge and Skills 💡

  • Proficiency in assigned subjects and languages
  • Comprehensive understanding of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage classroom behavior effectively
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Bilingual in French or Spanish (preferred)

Major Responsibilities and Duties 📋

Instructional Strategies ✏️

  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum and campus instructional framework, with documented evidence of preparation.
  • Collaborate with partner teachers to plan activities supporting dual language programs.
  • Design lessons accommodating diverse learning styles.
  • Present subject matter following guidelines from the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and regulations.
  • Utilize instructional strategies, activities, and materials suited to students' needs, including gifted, bilingual, ESL, and students with disabilities.
  • Assess and analyze student learning styles to inform instruction.
  • Coordinate with special education teachers to modify curricula per IEP guidelines.
  • Contribute to setting instructional goals and methods with staff.
  • Implement dual language program models and maintain language acquisition records.
  • Participate in extended day or year programs as required.
  • Supervise teacher aides and volunteers during instructional activities.
  • Incorporate technology to enhance learning experiences.

Student Growth and Development 🌱

  • Guide students in improving study habits and skills.
  • Conduct ongoing formative and summative assessments for student achievement.
  • Support extracurricular activities and sponsor approved outside events.
  • Serve as a positive role model and promote the school's mission.

Classroom Management and Organization 🏫

  • Create a conducive learning environment considering students' physical, social, and emotional needs.
  • Manage student behavior per Student Code of Conduct, policies, and IEPs.
  • Ensure safety and safeguard resources and facilities.
  • Assist in selecting instructional materials and equipment.

Communication 💬

  • Maintain open communication through conferences with parents, students, staff, and community members.
  • Utilize digital media to showcase student work and foster parent engagement.
  • Build professional relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Present information clearly and effectively in all communications.

Professional Growth and Development 📚

  • Stay current with knowledge and skills in instruction, language acquisition, and best teaching practices.
  • Participate in staff development opportunities, including three days of specialized training for dual language and cultural initiatives.
  • Display initiative and interest in ongoing professional development.
  • K-3 teachers of record must complete the TEA-mandated Reading Academy.

Miscellaneous Responsibilities 🔧

  • Stay informed about and comply with all relevant regulations and policies.
  • Maintain and file required reports and records.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and school showcase events.
  • Exhibit professional, responsible behavior aligned with the Professional Code of Ethics.

Working Conditions ⚙️

  • Mental and Physical Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Be capable of interpreting procedures and analyzing data for decision-making.
  • Physical Activities: Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. Move classroom equipment such as textbooks and media devices.
  • Travel Expectations: Occasional in-district, in-state, or national travel may be required.
  • Safety: Perform all duties safely and responsibly, observing all safety precautions.

Note: Current teachers and classroom assistants may only apply for promotion within the same campus, defined as an increase in salary grade or stipend, unless the transfer window is open.
