Role and Purpose

As a teacher, your primary goal is to provide students with meaningful learning activities in core subjects to help them realize their full potential across various areas—including intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development. Additionally, you'll empower students to develop essential competencies and skills necessary for success in a global society. 🌍

Qualifications

Education and Certification 🎓

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate for the assigned subject/level

Special Knowledge and Skills 🧠

  • Knowledge of the assigned subjects and languages
  • General understanding of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to teach students effectively and manage classroom behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Bilingual proficiency in French or Spanish is preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Instructional Strategies ✏️

  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum and campus instructional frameworks, with documented evidence of preparation
  • Collaborate with partner teachers to plan activities supporting dual language and instructional goals
  • Create lessons accommodating diverse learning styles and needs
  • Present subject matter following guidelines from the Texas Education Agency, policies, and regulations
  • Utilize appropriate instructional strategies, activities, and materials tailored to student needs (e.g., gifted, ESL, IEP)
  • Assess student learning styles to inform instruction
  • Coordinate with special education teachers to modify curricula as per IEPs
  • Engage with staff to set instructional goals and methods in accordance with district mandates
  • Implement dual language program models and maintain records on language acquisition and accommodations
  • Participate in extended day or year activities as assigned
  • Supervise teacher aides and volunteers
  • Leverage technology to enhance teaching and learning experiences

Student Growth and Development 📈

  • Assist students in improving study habits and methods
  • Conduct ongoing assessments using formal and informal tools
  • Support extracurricular activities and initiatives; sponsor approved outside activities
  • Model positive behavior and uphold the mission of the school district

Classroom Management and Organization 🏫

  • Create a safe, conducive learning environment aligned with students’ developmental needs
  • Manage behavior consistent with school policies and IEPs
  • Ensure safety precautions are in place to protect students, staff, and property
  • Select and assist with instructional materials and resources

Communication 🗣️

  • Foster open communication with parents, students, staff, and community members through conferences and digital media
  • Maintain professionalism in all interactions and collaborations
  • Clearly and accurately present information to different audiences

Professional Growth and Development 📚

  • Stay current with instructional strategies, language acquisition, and content knowledge
  • Participate in ongoing staff development activities
  • Attend at least 3 days of specialized professional development beyond district requirements, focusing on dual language education and related topics
  • Fulfill TEA requirements for K-3 teachers, including completing the Reading Academy

Miscellaneous 📝

  • Adhere to all regulations and policies at state, district, and school levels
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and required documentation
  • Engage in faculty meetings and contribute to staff committees
  • Participate in showcases and activities highlighting school programs and student success
  • Uphold professional ethics and responsibility
