Your Role as a Bilingual Flight Attendant

Beyond standard safety and service duties, you will act as a cultural and linguistic liaison. Your responsibilities include:

  • Making public announcements in both Japanese and English 🗣️
  • Assisting passengers with customs forms
  • Performing service recovery for any issues that arise
  • Collaborating effectively within a multi-lingual team

Daily Responsibilities

This role mainly involves long-haul international trips requiring:

  • Multi-day trips and extended layovers
  • Night shift departures 🌙
  • Weekend operations
  • Flexibility for international on-call support and scheduled lines

Training & Onboarding

To qualify, candidates should have at least 2+ years of customer service experience. You will participate in a 6.5-week paid training program in Houston, which includes a mandatory language proficiency test. Prior flight attendant experience is not required but preferred.

Career & Compensation Growth

United Airlines offers an industry-leading wage, with an estimated annual base salary ranging from $50,000 to $80,000 (including language pay). Benefits include profit sharing and exclusive global travel privileges on United and Star Alliance partners. ✨
