As a Family Support Specialist, you'll build trusting relationships with families, offer guidance, resources, and encouragement, all aimed at strengthening parenting skills and promoting healthy development. Position Details 📋

  • Salary Range: Mid 40s
  • Location: Hybrid role (some in-person, some remote)

Key Responsibilities 🔑

  • Conduct regular client home visits to establish trusting relationships, following Healthy Families America Best Practice Standards.
  • Design and prepare activities for home visits using evidence-based curricula and supplemental materials.
  • Facilitate group socialization and field trips for families to promote community engagement.
  • Model and provide parenting education and supportive services as outlined in best practices.
  • Perform developmental screenings with tools like ASQ-3, ASQ-SE-2, PHQ-9, and CHEERS Check-in.
  • Make appropriate referrals to community services and collaborate with other providers.
  • Document interactions and maintain client files per program requirements and NVFS guidelines.
  • Input data for record-keeping and reporting in line with federal, state, and program standards.
  • Participate in supervision and case presentations with the Program Supervisor.
  • Stay updated on program software and early childhood resources.

Your Background & Qualifications 🌈

We value diverse experiences and backgrounds. Your skills may come from professional roles, volunteer work, education, or personal life. Ideal candidates will have:

  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) and Spanish (spoken)
  • High School diploma or GED; college coursework preferred
  • Infant Mental Health endorsement (preferred)
  • Experience working with children aged 0-3 years and their families, including volunteering or internships
  • Ability to work in accordance with Healthy Families America standards
  • Cultural competence and humility to serve diverse populations
  • Knowledge of infant and child development
  • Strong relationship-building and acceptance of individual differences
  • Reflective capacity and openness to supervision
  • Proficiency in basic tech tools: laptops, email, internet, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Embodies NVFS core values: Communication, Integrity, Respect, Collaboration, and Accountability

Additional Requirements ✅

  • Successful background check completion upon hire
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds of baby items or materials
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license, reliable transportation, and possibly a clean Motor Vehicle Record
  • Flexibility to conduct evening or early morning visits (up to 2 days a week) and occasional weekends
  • Primarily in-person work with some remote flexibility
