Why We Need You 💡

As a Bilingual Family Engagement Specialist, you'll play a vital role in integrating effective practices for Spanish-speaking families, enhancing family engagement and establishing long-term habits that benefit students' reading journeys. This role supports our mission to help children learn to read by 4th grade and promotes collaboration between families and educators.

This position reports to the Manager of Community and Family Engagement and is part of the Product & Services Team. It's a fantastic chance to support a rapidly growing organization with an entrepreneurial spirit. Candidates must reside in the United States, with an expected commitment of 30-40 hours per month, earning $40/hour. Please note, this is not benefits-eligible.

Key Responsibilities 🎯

• Family Engagement Support (70%)
  • Prepare and deliver weekly virtual family workshops
  • Record high-quality family workshop videos in Spanish
  • Support partner sites with team-building activities (virtually or via phone)
  • Log participant attendance into our Connect: Educator database
  • Translate internal family engagement documents as needed
• Family Needs Representation & Feedback (30%)
  • Observe family workshops (virtual and/or in-person)
  • Conduct at least one in-person program site visit
  • Provide actionable recommendations to increase engagement and enhance the family experience
  • Participate in weekly virtual check-ins with the Manager of Community & Family Engagement

What You Bring to the Role 📋

• Family-Centered Approach: Focus on centering family experiences in service, communication, and advocacy
• Group Facilitation Skills: Ensure families feel seen and heard during workshops and team activities
• Flexibility: Adapt to meet diverse community needs
• Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate approachability and genuine care
• Results-Driven Mindset: Support data-driven outcomes and team goals
• Language Fluency: Advanced proficiency in English and Spanish, with experience translating written and spoken materials
• Technical Access: Reliable laptop and internet, experienced with Zoom
• Availability: Able to support virtual workshops during late afternoons/evenings (4 pm - 8 pm) on at least two weekdays (Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday)

Preferred Qualifications 🌟

• Degree in translation, linguistics, or related field
• Translator certification or ATA exam pass

Compensation & Location 💰

This role offers $40/hour with an expected commitment of 30-40 hours per month. Please note, this is a non-benefits-eligible position. Applications are accepted from anywhere within the United States, and the role is fully remote.
