Position Overview

The Bilingual (Spanish) Family Advocate collaborates closely with families to reduce conflict at home and prevent youth homelessness. Engaging families both in their homes and community settings, they assess strengths and needs, creating personalized goal plans. The Advocate manages a caseload of 10 to 12 families, facilitates monthly parenting classes for parents and youth, responds to community inquiries, and works cross-functionally across Cocoon House programs to ensure consistent, high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities

Full-Time Family Caseload Management & Community Engagement

  • Provide case management support to 10-12 families, focusing on reducing conflicts and increasing stability.
  • Assist youth in developing personal goals aligned with family plans.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners and resources within Snohomish County.

Other Critical Duties

  • Collaborate with colleagues and community partners to present parenting classes and support sessions.
  • Offer low-barrier support through phone contacts and drop-in services.
  • Provide referrals to additional services as needed.
  • Accurately collect demographic and program data; ensure timely documentation.
  • Contribute to staff training on family engagement practices and participate in Cocoon House’s ongoing equity initiatives.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of two years of working directly with parents or guardians of middle/high school youth
  • Fluent in both English and Spanish
  • Excellent communication and crisis de-escalation skills
  • Knowledge of adolescent development and strengths-based family work
  • Individuals with lived experience are highly encouraged to apply
  • Facilitation experience is a plus

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalency
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • DCYF background clearance
  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation
  • Acceptable driving record with no more than 2 violations in the past 3 years

Physical & Communication Skills

  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients and team members
  • Hear voices and alarms clearly
  • Read, comprehend, and operate relevant technology and documentation
  • Lift up to 50 pounds comfortably
  • Navigate indoor and outdoor stairwells quickly in emergencies

Compensation 💰

Hourly wage starting at $24/hr, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
