The Job: Fact Check Editor

The Fact Check team is a vital quality control unit within CNN, working closely with editorial teams to ensure that all published and broadcast content meets the highest standards of factual accuracy. On an average weekday, our editors and researchers vet numerous pieces across TV and digital platforms. As a Fact Check editor, you'll bear significant editorial responsibility—reviewing CNN’s content in both Spanish and English, for linear and digital formats.

The Daily Responsibilities

• Collaborate with supervisors and researchers to review CNN stories for accuracy and fairness, addressing concerns such as libel, defamation, and intellectual property infringement by referring issues to Legal and Standards departments.
• Ensure completed stories meet platform and show-specific needs.
• Approve reporting across the entire news group, including TV packages, investigative pieces, documentaries, digital articles, and videos.
• Communicate effectively with reporters, editors, producers, and writers to uphold high standards of storytelling, clarity, accuracy, quality, fairness, and balance.
• Coordinate with CNN News Gathering, Digital teams, bureaus, and the Affiliate Content Center to clear reportable information across all platforms.

The Essentials

• Five years of journalism experience, including producing or copy-editing TV newscasts, magazine shows, or major newspapers/websites.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; four years of university or journalism education.
• Bilingual proficiency in written and spoken English and Spanish.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work in a dynamic, fast-paced 24/7 news environment, including evenings, weekends, and during breaking news.

Compensation & Benefits

In compliance with applicable laws, we disclose the salary range for this role: $86,800 – $161,200 per year. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, location, and performance.
