Position Overview: Bilingual Education Resource Specialist 📚
This role focuses on accelerating English language acquisition and academic proficiency in Math, ELA, Science, and Social Studies. The specialist will provide instructional support, bridge cultural gaps, and facilitate acculturation for Multilingual Learner students at low-incidence schools district-wide.
Minimum Qualifications ✅
- 60 college credits
- Associate's degree
Language Requirements 🗣️
- Proficiency in English (written and verbal)
- Proficiency in an additional language such as Spanish, Arabic, Farsi, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, etc.
Preferred Qualifications 🌟
- Bachelor's Degree
- Experience working with multilingual learners and families
- Knowledge of WIDA standards and proficiency levels
- Professional conduct including punctuality and attendance
Key Job Responsibilities 🎯
- Partner with teachers and principals to form small groups based on English proficiency, providing targeted support
- Build relationships with students, families, and staff to foster safe, supportive environments
- Advise on intercultural communication to ensure inclusivity for new arrivals
- Support language development and acculturation through engaging learning environments
- Maintain accurate student records, monitor progress, and communicate needs and successes
- Collaborate with staff to support students' cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development
- Use various instructional practices tailored to individual student success strategies
- Maintain clear, professional communication with all educational team members
- Manage student data using Ellevation and Synergy platforms
- Report directly to the Director of Special Populations
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the district’s mission
Work Environment & Physical Requirements 🏃♀️
- Ability to move throughout classrooms, hallways, and outdoor spaces
- Frequent verbal communication for instruction, meetings, and collaboration
- Stand or walk for extended periods as needed
- Occasional bending, reaching, or sitting on the floor with students
- Use of computers and instructional technology regularly
- Lifting or carrying materials up to 25 pounds
- Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities
