Position: Bilingual (Spanish) Director, Global Acceptance - Americas

Key Responsibilities 🗝️

  • Client Relationship Management: Build relationships with senior partners, negotiate agreements, and collaborate with marketing and product teams to enhance partner services and cardholder experiences.
  • Market Growth Strategy: Develop and implement strategies to grow Discover Network's market share in merchant acquiring, tailored to local regulations and cultural nuances.
  • Data & Performance Optimization: Analyze metrics to identify opportunities for enhancing merchant acceptance levels.
  • Industry Representation: Attend industry events and trade shows to promote the brand, foster executive relationships, and generate new business leads.
  • Team & Strategic Oversight: Lead strategic activities, support talent development, and ensure business growth and succession planning.
  • Business Performance Monitoring: Oversee partner performance and implement mitigating actions as needed.
  • Contract Negotiation: Secure favorable agreements with existing and new partners.
  • Merchant Acceptance Management: Focus on priority verticals like Airlines, Hotels, Restaurants, Retail, and Travel.
  • Partnership Development: Expand acceptance in underserved territories, including card-present and card-not-present transactions, and ATM coverage.
  • Product Launch Support: Assist in launching new products and programs regionally.
  • Compliance & Monitoring: Ensure activities meet Anti-Money Laundering and other regulatory standards, monitoring market and competitor activity for strategic insights.
  • Client Engagement & Travel: Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time for client engagement and relationship building.

Qualifications ✅

Basic Qualifications

  • HS Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 9 years' experience in business development, sales, marketing, or relationship management within the payments industry
  • Fluent in both Spanish and English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Over 10 years' relevant experience in the payments industry
  • Experience working with key markets such as Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Central America, and the Caribbean

  • Remote (anywhere): $187,300 - $213,700
  • Chicago, IL: $187,300 - $213,700
  • Riverwoods, IL: $187,300 - $213,700

This position is eligible for performance-based incentives, including bonuses and long-term incentives, depending on company plans.
