About the Role
Capital One is seeking a Director to lead our International Markets - Americas team. This remote-eligible position involves managing client relationships and expanding the Discover Network Acceptance footprint across the Caribbean. The Director will oversee regional strategy, business development, sales activities, and partner relationship management in key markets.
Key Responsibilities 🚀
- Client Relationship Management: Foster relationships with senior partners, negotiate agreements, and collaborate with marketing and product teams to enhance service offerings in the region.
- Market Expansion: Develop strategies to grow Discover Network's merchant acquiring market share, respecting local regulations and cultural nuances.
- Performance Optimization: Analyze data to identify opportunities for increasing acceptance levels among merchants.
- Representation & Networking: Attend industry events and trade shows to promote brand awareness and generate new business leads.
- Strategic Oversight & Talent Development: Lead tactical activities and nurture talent to support business growth and succession planning.
- Partner Monitoring: Track partner performance, ensuring mutual success, and take corrective actions when necessary.
- Contract Negotiation: Secure favorable contracts with existing and new partners.
- Merchant Vertical Management: Oversee acceptance levels within key verticals such as Airlines, Hotels, Restaurants, Retail, and Travel Operators.
- Partnership Development: Source new collaborations, including acceptance solutions and ATM coverage in underserved territories.
- Product Launch Support: Assist with the rollout of new products and programs in the region.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure activities comply with AML, regulation, and Due Diligence standards, collaborating with compliance teams.
- Market & Competitor Monitoring: Provide insights and feedback to leadership on market and industry trends.
- Client Engagement & Travel: Willingness to travel up to 50% for client meetings and industry events.
Qualifications ✅
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Minimum of 9 years in business development, sales, marketing, or relationship management within the payments industry
- Fluent in Spanish and English
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Over 10 years of relevant experience in the payments industry
- Experience working with key markets like Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Central America, and the Caribbean

Salary Range:
- Remote (Any location): $187,300 - $213,700
- Chicago, IL: $187,300 - $213,700
- Riverwoods, IL: $187,300 - $213,700
Salary offers will be location-specific and reflected in the official offer letter. The role also offers potential performance-based incentives, including bonuses and long-term incentives.
