About the Position

We are seeking a bilingual professional fluent in English and Spanish to assist dentists, manage administrative duties, and ensure smooth clinic operations. The ideal candidate thrives in a community-focused environment and enjoys contributing to public health initiatives.

Work Schedule & Location

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Location: Silver Spring, MD 20902

Clinic Focus

This clinic provides dental services for patients living with HIV and strictly adheres to infection control and safety protocols. Many patients are Spanish-speaking, making bilingual skills vital for effective communication and quality care. 🩺

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists: Prepare instruments, materials, and treatment areas for procedures.
  • Patient preparation: Help patients feel comfortable and ready for treatment.
  • Radiography: Take and process dental radiographs following safety standards.
  • Infection control: Maintain sterilization and safety procedures diligently.
  • Instrument sterilization: Clean and sterilize dental tools and equipment.
  • Patient education: Provide oral health instructions post-treatment as directed.
  • Record keeping: Maintain accurate patient and clinical documentation.
  • Scheduling support: Assist with appointment management and confirmations.
  • Inventory management: Keep track of supplies and assist with clinic inventory.
  • Operational assistance: Support administrative tasks on designated clinic support days.
  • Additional duties: Perform extra tasks to ensure smooth clinic operations.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of dental assisting procedures and chairside techniques
  • Proficiency in operating dental equipment and performing radiography safely
  • Understanding of infection control and safety protocols
  • Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork abilities
  • Effective collaboration with patients, providers, and staff
  • Comfort working within a community health clinic environment

Requirements

  • Fluency in both English and Spanish (mandatory)
  • Dental Radiology (X-Ray) Certification, valid in Maryland
  • Ability to pass background checks including criminal history, sex offender registry, and drug screening
  • Completion of health and credentialing documentation prior to start

Credentialing & Health Screenings

Candidates must fulfill the following before onboarding:

  • Verification of license or certification (as applicable)
  • CPR or BLS certification
  • MMR vaccination documentation (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination records, if available
  • TB screening: Chest X-ray within the past 5 years or a valid TB skin test (PPD) within the past 12 months

Note: Candidates are responsible for related medical screening expenses unless otherwise specified.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous dental assisting experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a dental assistant training program (not mandatory but preferred)

Compensation & Employment Details

Pay: $29.00 per hour 💰

Work Location: This role is in-person at our Silver Spring clinic.
