The Near East South Asia (NESA) Center's mission is to enhance stability in the Near East and South Asia by providing an academic environment where strategic issues can be addressed, understanding deepened, partnerships fostered, defense-related decision-making improved, and cooperation strengthened between military and civilian leaders from the region and the United States. The Center builds on the strong bilateral relationships between the United States and countries in the NESA region by focusing on a multilateral approach to addressing regional security concerns and issues.
Responsibilities:
- Lecturing and facilitating course instruction, organize academic events, develop curriculum, advise students and fellows, design and conduct research on cyber topics
- Developing curriculum, concept papers, syllabi, and other academic documents to support programs
- Researching, identifying and securing, as agreed, the services of subject matter experts who will provide subject matter expertise (backgrounds in Government, military, academics, civil society, or other areas as directed) as Adjunct Faculty to direct seminars, provide expertise during curriculum development workshops, author papers, or speak at functions
- Supporting Centers' academic programs oriented mostly for foreign participants from the Western Hemisphere
- Providing adjunct faculty-level support to research, develop content, and to facilitate in support of programs
- Supporting and manages academic seminars, programs, workshops
- Conducting research and support related academic activities
Requirements
- Professional level written and verbal skills in English and Spanish; Portuguese language skills are desirable. 4+ years of copy-editing experience preferred
- Mastery of spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors and ability to make constructive suggestions
- Proficiency with applying the principles of style guides, such as the Chicago Manual of Style, to different types of writing
- Willingness to collaborate with a creative team of writers, graphic designers, and others
- Strong computer processing skills, especially Microsoft Office
- Basic knowledge of legal issues involved in publishing, such as plagiarism and copyrighting
- Experience as interpreter and translation services
