Milton Hershey School (MHS), located in Hershey, PA, is dedicated to providing a top-tier, cost-free, career-focused education to over 2,200 students from disadvantaged backgrounds. With a legacy founded by Milton and Catherine Hershey in 1909, the school continues to grow and serve future generations. We are now seeking married couples to serve as Full-Time Flex Houseparents, playing a crucial role in creating a nurturing, family-like environment for our students.

About the Role

As a Flex Houseparent, you will reside in on-campus student homes, guiding and supporting approximately 8–13 students each. Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing daily supervision and mentorship 🧑‍🏫
• Managing household routines and student schedules 🗓️
• Administering medications and promoting student wellness 💊
• Driving students to activities and engaging in recreational and developmental activities 🚗🎨
• Leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Sunday Chapel ✝️
• Overseeing household budgeting and reporting 💰

Schedule & Transition

Initially, Flex Houseparents support various student homes on a schedule of nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off. During weekdays, houseparents have unscheduled time while students are in school. Eventually, they transition into a Placed Houseparent role, living and working with the same group of students in their dedicated home.

Qualifications

• Experience working or volunteering with youth ✨
• Couples must be legally married for at least two years 💍
• Both spouses must be 27 years or older 👵👴
• Maximum of three dependent children allowed in the student home 🧸
• Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus 🚭🔫
• No alcohol permitted while on duty 🍺❌
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to be certified to drive student vans 🚗
• Comfort leading daily devotions and attending Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel (proselytizing prohibited) ✝️🗣️
• High school diploma or GED required 🎓
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. 💪
• Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; role modeling for students 🌟
