Position Overview
At MCHAP, we believe in the power of faith and service. Our Chaplains serve as frontline representatives of our mission, offering spiritual support and ministry to employees and their immediate families. This role provides a fulfilling opportunity to bring comfort, build relationships, and embody Christian values in a professional setting.
Important Note
While scheduled hours are generally consistent weekly, there are no guaranteed minimum hours. Work demand varies depending on Chaplain availability and client needs.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Faith & Mission: Serve as a messenger and conveyor of faith, mission, and purpose within the company.
- Community Engagement: Engage with employees and the community in a character-driven manner through personal and spiritual disciplines.
Ministry Opportunities
- Conduct brief visits to company worksites (usually weekly) to foster trust and friendship rooted in Christian faith.
- Visit employees or immediate family members at hospitals, nursing homes, funeral homes, residences, or other sites to provide spiritual care.
- Offer confidential pastoral counseling for personal issues such as family matters, serious illness, grief, parenting, financial stress, and other life challenges. Provide referrals and coordinate specialized assistance as needed.
- Assist in planning, conducting, or attending funerals, offering follow-up support during the grieving process.
- Visit incarcerated employees and their families when required.
- Work with companies to communicate notifications of death or serious injuries, offering pastoral support to affected families and staff.
- Provide post-termination care to laid-off or terminated employees to help facilitate a smooth transition.
- Facilitate, but not lead, spiritual enrichment activities as employee-led initiatives are often more impactful.
- Distribute literature and resources to assist employees with life issues.
- Represent companies at client or customer sites during serious events requiring ministry support (e.g., illness, accidents, funerals).
- Participate in new employee orientation to explain Employee Care Services and the Chaplain role.
- Respond, with approval from leadership, to additional duties requested within the scope of the employment agreement.

- Interfaith & Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and respect various lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values.
- Communication Skills: Effective listening, interpersonal, and community presentation skills; able to handle stressful situations sensitively and document appropriately.
- Spiritual Maturity: Committed to a Christian lifestyle, integrating Biblical principles into daily work. Must have a sound understanding of the Bible, a saving faith in Jesus Christ, and active participation in a biblically-based church.
- Professionalism & Diplomacy: Ability to interact courteously and professionally with diverse groups, maintaining confidentiality and exercising sound judgment on sensitive issues.
- Communication Excellence: Strong oral and written skills for effective interaction with leadership, colleagues, employees, and families.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze information, identify issues, and develop solutions or follow-up strategies.
