Ounceofcare Is Hiring A Bilingual Cantonese/Mandarin Part-Time Community Navigator

Bilingual Cantonese/Mandarin Part-time Community Navigator (Sacramento, CA) 🌟

Join our mission to empower healthy and thriving communities as a part-time Community Navigator, connecting with residents and community partners in Sacramento's affordable housing areas.

About Us

We live by the saying “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure,” and our mission is to foster vibrant, healthy communities. Ounce is a pioneering community-based service model that leverages technology to enhance engagement and improve outcomes for residents of affordable housing properties. We are seeking creative, compassionate teammates to join us on this impactful journey.

About the Role

Ounce Community Navigators are essential team members, representing our organization directly within the community. Your role will involve working closely with residents, housing and community partners, and our broader team to deliver effective care and services within affordable housing settings. Please note, this is a part-time, community-facing position requiring dedication, consistency, and reliability.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Outreach & Engagement Specialist 🏘️:

Proactively connect with residents, earning their trust through door‑to‑door flyering, community events, tabling, and phone outreach. Presence on-site during scheduled hours and consistent engagement are vital.

  • Benefits Specialist & Service Coordinator 💼:

Assist residents with scheduling doctor’s appointments, applying for benefits such as SNAP, TANF, LIHEAP, and acting as an advocate for their health and wellness needs. Manage multiple responsibilities efficiently through our technology platform, ensuring timely follow-up.

  • Relationship Builder 🤝:

Establish and nurture trust-based relationships with residents and community partners, actively listening and identifying their needs. Maintain a regular presence to build credibility in the community.

Who We're Looking For

  • Experience navigating government benefits (e.g., SNAP, TANF, LIHEAP, Medicaid) and coordinating care with local organizations.
  • Enthusiasm for “boots on the ground” community organizing and customer service roles, with a resident-first mentality.
  • Understanding the unique challenges faced by affordable housing residents; familiarity with the Sacramento area through lived experience or community roles is a plus.
  • Dependable, organized, and able to commit to a set schedule, recognizing that residents and partners rely on your consistent presence.

Additional Information 📅

  • Schedule: 16 hours per week, set weekdays (Monday–Friday). Maintaining consistency in scheduled days is essential for building trust.
  • Commute: Must be within Sacramento, CA.
  • Hourly Rate: $24–$28 per hour.

Our Expectations at Ounce

At Ounce, we deeply value our community and team. We strive to structure roles in a sustainable way and encourage open, honest communication. Dependability and proactive engagement are key — our residents and partners count on us to show up as promised. The ideal candidate will:

  • Commit to a set schedule and communicate proactively about any challenges.
  • Speak fluently in Cantonese/Mandarin and English.
  • Actively provide services related to health, benefits, and community needs.

We believe that with dedication, clear communication, and ownership of responsibilities, our Community Navigators can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents and the broader community. 🌟
