About the Role
Ounce Community Navigators are essential representatives within the community, serving as the face of Ounce. You will work directly with residents, housing and community partners, and our broader team to improve care and services within affordable housing. This is a part-time, community-facing position that demands consistency, follow-through, and reliability.
Residents and partners depend on us to show up as promised, making your commitment to scheduled hours crucial to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities

Outreach & Engagement Specialist 🚪
Proactively connect with residents through door-to-door flyering, community events, tabling, and phone outreach. Your physical presence and consistent engagement build trust and foster stronger community ties.

Benefits Specialist & Service Coordinator 📋
Assist residents with scheduling medical appointments, applying for benefits (like SNAP, TANF, LIHEAP), and acting as their health & wellness advocate. Track referrals and ensure prompt follow-up with residents.

Relationship Builder 🤝
Establish and nurture trust with residents and community partners. Listen to their needs, identify opportunities, and maintain regular on-site presence to strengthen relationships.
Who We’re Looking For
- Experience navigating government benefits (e.g., SNAP, TANF, LIHEAP, Medicaid) and coordinating care with local organizations
- Excitement for “boots on the ground” activities, including community organizing and customer service roles within affordable housing
- An understanding of the unique challenges residents face, ideally with local or community-based experience
- Dependability, organization, and a commitment to a set schedule, ensuring residents and partners can rely on your presence
Additional Details
- Schedule: 16 hours per week, Monday–Friday (consistent scheduled days are valued for building trust)
- Location: Sacramento, CA — within commuting distance
- Hourly Rate: $24–$28 per hour 💰

Community Navigators are also expected to:
- Speak Cantonese/Mandarin and English fluently
- Provide ongoing services related to health, benefits, and financial needs, including follow-up support
- Accurately document all outreach, services, referrals, and interactions in the Ounce platform
- Build and maintain partnerships that support resident needs and community programming
- Plan and host on-site programming and events to foster vibrant community environments
