Join a leading global outdoor gear company in Kent, WA as a Japanese-speaking Assistant Operations Manager, supporting operations across the USA and Canada with an exciting leadership opportunity!

Position Overview

This role involves collaborating with directors and headquarters (based in Japan) to effectively manage US business operations and the office. Fluency in both Japanese (beyond business level) and English is essential, along with significant management experience in a corporate setting.

Note: Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as needed to coordinate across different time zones. This is an in-office, full-time position with no remote or hybrid options.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: Approximately $100,000 - $110,000, potentially up to $120,000

Responsibilities

• Office & Staff Supervision: Oversee daily operations and team members
• Communication: Liaise with the company president and HQ managers
• HR & Payroll: Manage employee records, payroll, and benefits
• Customer Relations: Build strong relationships with internal and external clients
• Logistics Coordination: Arrange cargo recovery, bookings, and rate negotiations with shippers and suppliers
• Shipment Monitoring: Track shipments from start to finish
• Reporting: Create reports on costs and performance metrics
• Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as required

Qualifications

• Experience: 10+ years managing teams and departments in a corporate environment
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related fields; Master’s degree preferred
• Language Skills: Business-level proficiency in Japanese and English
• Business Acumen: Solid understanding of business operations and financial report analysis
• Technical Skills: ERP or Freight Management System experience a plus
• Attention to Detail: Strong math and analytical skills
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Adaptability: Ability to work responsibly and effectively within a multicultural environment
