About The APJCC
The Addison-Penzak JCC of Silicon Valley is a nonprofit community center welcoming individuals of all faiths. We offer social, cultural, educational, and recreational services to foster community connection. Our 20,000 sq ft Fitness Center has been recognized as Metro Silicon Valley's "Best Health Club" numerous times, including 2006, 2008-2012, and 2014-2017. We are proud to serve a diverse community with a wide variety of programming suitable for all levels of fitness.
Role Overview
The Begged Kefet Teacher will instruct students in Hebrew, enhancing their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. The curriculum also immerses students in Israeli culture, songs, literature, art, and Judaic holidays and traditions. This program caters to children in grades K-5, 6-8, and 9-12, and is recognized as an accredited Hebrew Language program.
Key Responsibilities
- Lesson Planning: Create and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum goals, teaching a total of 100 hours per high school accreditation rules.
- Homework & Assessment: Assign, collect, and evaluate homework assignments; update online records with attendance and grades monthly.
- Communication & Meetings: Participate in regular meetings with the Head of School to review student progress and address parent concerns.
- Professional Development: Attend teacher workshops as needed to enhance teaching skills.
- Parent Engagement: Conduct orientation meetings, review student progress through bi-annual reports, and collaborate with parents to support students struggling with material.
- Event Coordination: Organize and host holiday-themed parties throughout the school year.
- Documentation & Updates: Post class summaries, feedback, photos, homework, and grades online after each session to keep parents informed.
- Creating a Welcoming Environment: Foster a respectful, friendly atmosphere where every participant feels valued and respected.
- Model Behavior: Lead by example with a positive attitude, serving as a role model for children and staff.
- Parent Interaction: Address concerns promptly and communicate with the Head of School as necessary.
- Professional Representation: Represent the APJCC professionally, providing excellent customer service.
- Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned by management.
