The Addison-Penzak JCC of Silicon Valley is a nonprofit community center that warmly welcomes people of all faiths. Overview of the Role ❤️

The Begged Kefet Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging Hebrew language lessons to students across various grade levels, nurturing their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. The role also involves implementing a comprehensive Hebrew curriculum focused on Israeli culture, songs, literature, art, and Judaic holidays and traditions. This program is accredited and serves children in grades K-12.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 📋

  • Create and implement lesson plans for each class aligned with curriculum goals. Teach a total of 100 hours per High School accreditation rules.
  • Assign, collect, and evaluate homework assignments to support student learning.
  • Update the online school record system regularly with assignment details, attendance, and grades to meet accreditation standards.
  • Participate in scheduled meetings with the Head of School to review lesson plans, student progress, and parental feedback.
  • Attend professional development workshops as required.
  • Conduct orientation meetings with parents to outline academic goals for the year.
  • Collaborate with parents when students face challenges, working together to find solutions, with involvement from the Head of School when necessary.
  • Generate and share progress reports twice annually to update parents on student achievement.
  • Organize and host holiday-themed parties to celebrate Jewish traditions throughout the school year.
  • Post class summaries (including feedback, photos, homework, and grades) online after each lesson to keep parents informed.
  • Foster a welcoming and respectful environment where every participant feels valued and comfortable.
  • Model positive behavior and attitude to children and staff alike.
  • Address parent concerns promptly, escalating issues to the Head of School when appropriate.
  • Represent the APJCC professionally and deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
