Role Overview
The Banking Associate
A professional responsible for delivering excellent customer service, executing banking transactions accurately, and advising customers to help them reach their financial goals.
Depth & Scope of Responsibilities
- Handle processing customer transactions, opening accounts, and educating clients on banking products.
- Build trust through educational content, consultative support, and proactive recommendations.
- Engage with customers using TD's systems to strengthen relationships and provide tailored advice.
- Identify customer needs for cross-selling or referrals, ensuring positive experiences.
- Perform banking transactions on the teller line or platform, addressing various banking needs including accounts, cards, and digital banking services.
- Manage customer interactions, lead generation, outreach activities, and appointment setting to enhance banking relationships.
Educational & Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or GED 🎓
- At least 1 year of customer service experience (volunteering, education, military experience preferred) 🎯
- Demonstrated customer service skills preferred.
- Flexibility to work during evenings, weekends, and holidays 🕒
- Experience as a teller is preferred.
- Completion of Teller training and platform onboarding required upon hire.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to solve problems effectively and work independently or within a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Notary License is a plus.
Customer Accountabilities
- Deliver outstanding customer service, promote TD products, and educate clients.
- Build and nurture customer relationships through active listening and solution offering.
- Manage lobby flow by scheduling or rescheduling appointments and assisting walk-in clients.
- Support the bank’s customer service strategy and ensure compliance with policies.
- Complete required compliance and training programs.
- Maintain accurate records for audits and regulatory purposes.
Shareholder & Operational Accountabilities
- Adhere to regulatory guidelines like the Bank Secrecy Act and Patriot Act.
- Process transactions accurately, including account openings and servicing requests.
- Handle cash responsibly, maintain cash limits, and follow security procedures.
- Operate as a Dual Control agent when necessary, following all opening/closing protocols.
Team & Collaborative Responsibilities
- Contribute positively to team culture and participate in ongoing development.
- Act as a brand ambassador both internally and externally.
- Seek opportunities for improvement, embrace change, and foster inclusivity.
- Potentially train and mentor new colleagues.
Physical & Travel Requirements
- Travel: Occasional domestic travel; no international travel expected 🚗✈️
- Physical activity: Frequent sitting, standing, and walking; occasional lifting and movement in confined spaces.
