Accountant Consultant Overview

Responsibilities

• Record transactions, prepare trial balances, and generate financial statements using accounting software 📊
• Reconcile accounts and perform schedule calculations (e.g., accruals, depreciation) 🔄
• Maintain general ledger and process accounts receivable/payable (AR/AP) 🧾
• Prepare group consolidation packages and coordinate with tax return preparers 📑
• Perform audit and review procedures as assigned ✅
• Prepare payroll, sales tax, business license, personal property tax, and 1099 filings 📋
• Assist with SOX/JSOX compliance and reporting to Japanese headquarters 🌏
• Support internal and external audit engagements 🔍
• Potential supervision of staff accountants and assistance in planning and scheduling engagements 👥
• Ensure timely entry of time and expenses to support billing processes ⏱️

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field 🎓
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in public accounting 🏢
• Current and valid CPA license, or working toward obtaining it by passing the applicable state exam ✅
• Ability to travel to client locations ✈️
• Thorough knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and PCAOB standards 📚
• Strong Japanese language proficiency—both written and verbal—to effectively communicate with Japanese clients and colleagues 🗣️

Compensation & Benefits

The position offers an hourly wage of $40.86 - $47.12, with eligible overtime at time and a half. 💰
