Position Overview: Audit Intern 🔍
We are seeking an enthusiastic Audit Intern to join our Audit and Assurance team. This role offers a comprehensive view of the audit process, with opportunities to utilize advanced data analysis tools and develop your professional skills.
Key Responsibilities 🎯
- Assist in Financial Audits: Collaborate within a team to perform financial statement audits, ensuring accuracy and reliability of client financial data while maintaining independence and professional integrity.
- Client Risk Analysis: Develop understanding of client-specific risks by reviewing financial results, external information, industry trends, and client transactions, focusing on Japanese clients or companies needing strategic assistance in Japan.
- Audit Documentation: Learn to prepare clear, structured audit documentation outlining client processes and technology systems.
- Executing Tests: Support testing of controls and financial account balances per established standards, guided by senior team members.
- Data & Analytics Support: Leverage data extraction and analysis tools such as Excel, Alteryx, SQL, Power BI, and AI to enhance audit quality and efficiency, preparing related documentation as needed.
Qualifications & Skills 📝
- Enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing Bachelor or Master of Accountancy or equivalent.
- Knows the educational requirements for CPA licensure in the state of the office location.
- Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Bilingual in English & Japanese, with ability to use both languages professionally.
- Courses or minors in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data analytics are a plus.
- Experience with data analysis tools like Alteryx or Power BI is preferred.
- Understanding of technical accounting standards and GAAP.
- Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel; quick learner of KPMG audit tools.
- Strong communication, time management, and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated professional judgment, flexibility, and team orientation; leadership experience is a plus.
- Residency within a reasonable commute to the office, with ability to travel as needed.
- Expected in-person work of approximately three days per week at office or client site, with some travel required.
Additional Information & Benefits 🎁
KPMG offers competitive salary ranges based on location and applicant qualifications. For positions outside California, the salary range is $74,000 - $94,000.
