Job Summary ⭐
The Associate Manager, Product Planning plays an integral role in managing the "Global Inline" greenlight process for SEGA's console and PC gaming operations. This role involves coordinating across multiple teams and regions to ensure projects are ready for approval and aligned with our business strategy. Acting as a bridge between individual contributors and management, the Associate Manager handles complex projects, mentors junior staff, and facilitates seamless cross-functional collaboration.
🔧 Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage multiple cross-functional projects from initiation to approval, ensuring preparedness for reviews, adapting processes, and resolving issues with judgment and precedent.
- Serve as the primary contact for international teams, guiding workflow to meet project milestones across regions and functions.
- Create presentation decks to support project approvals and guide team efforts.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, identify risks/discrepancies, and proactively resolve issues.
- Review submission materials for clarity, accuracy, and completeness.
- Facilitate project meetings, document decisions and action items, and ensure follow-up until completion.
- Identify process gaps and recommend or implement improvements to enhance efficiency and outcomes.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to Product Planners and Coordinators; support onboarding and training of new team members.
- Lead small project teams or coordinate interns/contractors as needed.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned or necessary.
🎯 Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- In-person office work is essential for effective supervision, collaboration, and teamwork, including:
- Providing oversight and assistance to ensure quality work and meeting deadlines.
- Encouraging spontaneous collaboration and idea exchange.
- Sharing information effectively to enhance productivity and understanding.
- Understanding stakeholder needs to facilitate seamless workflow and improve outcomes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, IT, or a related field.
- Typically 5-8+ years of experience in product planning, project management, or similar roles.
- Professional working proficiency or above in Japanese and English (bilingual required).
- Experience coordinating cross-functional and international teams.
- Proficiency with project management tools such as Jira, Asana, or Smartsheet.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and proactively resolve issues.
- Familiarity with the gaming industry and product development lifecycle.
