Job Overview

Position: Japanese Answering Service Associate

Location: Remote (24/7 coverage required)

Dayforce Code: Hawaii-Associate-Japanese Answering Service

Pay Range: $17.00 - $22.50 hourly

This department provides round-the-clock Japanese call support for industry partners, assisting customers with inquiries, bookings, and more.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as the client’s service desk by providing information and support to customers in Japanese.
  • Handle sales and booking of optional tours and golf activities via telephone, email, and website channels.

Essential Job Functions

Percentage of TimeFunction
80% Customer Service:
  • Use communication platforms to assist customers and manage bookings.
  • Upsell additional services.
20% Reporting & Communication:
  • Complete daily call reports.
  • Communicate follow-up needs to incoming shifts.
  • Escalate issues to management when necessary.

Other Duties: Perform special projects and miscellaneous tasks as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Over 1 year of experience in the travel industry or related skills.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Fluent in both English and Japanese (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Knowledge of the tour industry, Japanese culture, and etiquette.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, and standard office equipment.
  • Accurate math skills, including calculator usage for rates and percentages.

Working Conditions

Hours & Schedule

  • 24-hour availability, including weekends and holidays.
  • Regular attendance required; may work outside normal hours.

Work Environment

  • Air-conditioned office or remote workspace.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, fumes, and vehicle exhaust.

Equipment Used

  • Office equipment: phones, fax, copier, computer, scanner.
  • Software: Windows OS, MS Office applications.

Physical & Mental Demands

  • Constant sitting, grasping, handling, with good vision and hearing.
  • Must be self-motivated, resourceful, and able to handle challenging situations professionally.
  • Minor physical movements: standing, walking, bending, reaching (seldom).

Communication Expectations

  • Constant verbal and written communication with customers, vendors, and team members.
  • Frequent interactions with co-workers via verbal and written exchanges.
  • No supervisory or training responsibilities associated with this role.
