Join College Board as an Associate Director, AP Bilingual Editorial Quality (Spanish/English) and be a key player in maintaining the high standards of our AP assessment materials, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and excellence in bilingual education content. 🚀

Location & Role Type

Location: This is a remote role. Candidates near College Board offices have the option of being fully remote or adopting a hybrid schedule (Tuesday and Wednesday in office). All employees are expected to occasionally travel for business purposes.

About The Team

The AP® program is a rigorous academic initiative driven by dedication, passion, and hard work from students and educators worldwide. Offering 43 courses across diverse subject areas, AP provides high school students an opportunity to study at the college level. Under the leadership of our growing Assessment Production team, we develop instructional and assessment products. This cross-functional team comprises experts across various domains, all committed to producing exceptional AP Exam content.

About The Opportunity

As the Associate Director, AP Bilingual Editorial Quality (Spanish/English), you will ensure all AP assessment materials reflect high-quality standards, are stylistically consistent, and meet the needs of our diverse learners. Your expertise in both English and Spanish, keen eye for detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities will help uphold our standards of excellence.

In this role, you will edit and proofread AP Exams and instructional resources across 39 courses, shaping the AP Exam style. You will collaborate closely with content experts, ensure materials are clear and error-free, and play a pivotal role in the assessment quality of all AP World Languages, especially Spanish-language content. Your work will support the editorial consistency across all AP courses, including five additional World Language courses.

This position combines hands-on editorial responsibilities with collaboration across internal teams and external consultants, focusing on refining style, clarity, and accuracy to make a lasting educational impact.

In This Role, You Will

Principal editor of Spanish-language AP exam content and strategic documentation
(40%)

  • Edit and refine Spanish-language assessment content for AP Spanish Language and Culture, AP Spanish Literature and Culture, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and standard alignment
  • Guide development of editorial guidelines for AP Spanish courses
  • Collaborate with course experts and editors to deliver high-quality, error-free assessment items
  • Contribute to project scope, timelines, and delivery, exercising independent judgment on stylistic issues

Contribute to overall AP editorial excellence
(40%)

  • Review all English-language AP exam questions, test forms, and instructional resources for clarity, consistency, and grammatical correctness
  • Partner with course experts and editors to ensure accuracy and proper rendering of assessment items
  • Develop and support AP course-specific editorial guidelines
  • Verify citations and source information where necessary
  • Utilize content management systems for review and production of error-free materials
  • Perform detailed source comparisons to uphold fidelity, accuracy, and accessibility
  • Identify inefficiencies, suggest improvements, and explore innovative editorial technologies

Oversee editorial reviews of all AP World Language courses
(20%)

  • Ensure content consistency and quality across all AP WL assessments using multilingual editing expertise
  • Serve as a liaison with external editorial consultants and internal subject matter experts, providing guidance and feedback
  • Support the development of course-specific guidelines and training for editors

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 4+ years of professional copyediting experience in both English and Spanish, preferably in secondary or postsecondary education
  • Fluency and proficiency in all modalities of both languages
  • Proven proofreading and editing skills
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Extensive knowledge of style guides, including the Chicago Manual of Style and Real Academia Española
  • Experience with content management systems and technical platforms
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
  • Flexibility and a growth mindset to work through ambiguity and shifting priorities
  • Ability to travel 3–5 times per year (<15%) to College Board offices or on related business

Exceptional candidates will demonstrate:

  • Equal expertise in copyediting in English and Spanish
  • Experience with developmental, line, and copyediting
  • Curiosity and initiative when tackling complex tasks
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines proactively
