Position Summary 📝

Hebrew Union College is looking for a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as its inaugural Assistant Vice President, Admissions and Enrollment Management. This senior role involves designing and executing recruitment, admissions, and financial aid strategies across all campuses, directly influencing Jewish leadership, education, and community advancement.

The AVP reports to the Chief of Staff and Vice President for Strategic Initiatives, and is a member of the President’s Cabinet. The position is based in either New York City or Los Angeles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 🎯

Strategic Enrollment Leadership 🚀

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive, data-driven recruitment and admissions strategy.
  • Expand outreach efforts to reach prospective students in traditional and emerging markets.
  • Monitor enrollment trends, market conditions, and competitive landscape; report findings to leadership.

Team Leadership and Office Operations 🧑‍💼

  • Lead and motivate the admissions and enrollment team to meet institutional goals.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development for staff.
  • Oversee workflows and develop performance metrics for operational efficiency.
  • Ensure fair, equitable admissions processes complying with legal regulations.
  • Foster a collaborative, customer-focused department culture.

Financial Aid Coordination 💰

  • Collaborate with the Director of Financial Aid to align strategies with enrollment objectives.

Cross-College Collaboration 🤝

  • Partner with School Directors, Program Directors, and the Provost’s Office for innovative recruitment strategies.
  • Coordinate with Communications and Marketing for outreach campaigns.
  • Work with Alumni Engagement and other departments to enhance student pipelines and experiences.

External Engagement 🌍

  • Represent HUC at recruitment events, academic conferences, and public forums.
  • Build relationships with academic institutions, seminaries, alumni, and Jewish community groups.
  • Participate in speaking engagements and visibility initiatives to promote HUC’s programs.

Travel Requirements ✈️

  • Travel domestically up to 20%, with occasional trips to Israel.

Qualifications 🎓

Education 📚

  • Required: Master’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Preferred: Advanced degree in higher education or relevant field related to HUC’s programs

Experience 🚀

  • At least seven years of progressive experience in higher education recruitment and admissions
  • Proven success in meeting enrollment goals and related metrics
  • Familiarity with Jewish institutional life, especially in liberal or Reform communities
  • Experience managing teams, supervising staff, and collaborating with senior leadership
