Position Summary

The Assistant Director, Geriatric Programs will collaborate with the Director of Geriatric Programs to lead a team dedicated to delivering high-quality, person-centered support that promotes safety, independence, and improved quality of life for older adults. Responsibilities include program implementation, staff supervision, direct client services, and managing the MSW internship program.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in strategic planning, implementation, and development of programs such as crisis support, elder abuse prevention, and social services for seniors
  • Supervise and support program staff to foster a collaborative, values-driven team culture
  • Coordinate staff training initiatives for ongoing professional development
  • Analyze program metrics to assess effectiveness, identify trends, and enhance outcomes
  • Streamline data collection, documentation, and service tracking processes
  • Collaborate with community providers to ensure holistic, integrated care
  • Conduct community outreach and engagement with clients
  • Provide direct services including intake assessments, home visits, and client support
  • Document services and case notes in Salesforce in line with Social Services Department guidelines
  • Participate in task forces and represent the agency at meetings
  • Support grant initiatives and reporting efforts
  • Manage MSW Intern program, including supervision and scheduling of field instructor meetings
  • Assist with intern recruitment, interviewing, and selection
  • Maintain communication with partner schools regarding outreach and intern matters
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity to insular, religious, immigrant, and minority groups
  • Additional responsibilities as needed

Required Competencies

  • Expertise in older adult services and person-centered, trauma-informed care
  • Warm, empathetic communication style to build trust with clients and staff
  • Strong leadership and direct service communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Comfort with online technologies and database management systems

Skills & Education Requirements

  • Master of Social Work (LMSW or LCSW)
    Must have SIFI certification
  • Relevant experience in program supervision or management, preferably in human services
  • Language Skills: Bilingual in Russian, Hebrew, or Spanish (preferred)
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn about the Jewish community

Special Requirements

This role requires willingness to travel throughout New York City via public transportation for outreach and client services. The primary work location will be in the Financial District, Manhattan.

Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 per year
