Brief Position Overview
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures maintains a pool of applicants for non-tenure track Arabic instructors. Typically, instructors teach 1 to 5 language classes each semester. Application & Review Process
Applications are accepted on a continual basis and will be kept in the pool for up to two years. After this period, candidates will be notified to resubmit current materials. Applications are reviewed by the appropriate committee or hiring authority, and candidates will be notified if considered for an open position. These appointments can be part-time or full-time, with salary depending on the courses taught and appointment duration.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Teach 1 to 5 language classes per semester.
- Position contingent upon enrollment and funding.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a foreign university.
- Master's degree or equivalent in Arabic or a closely related field (or relevant experience, such as high proficiency or extensive residence abroad).
- Proficiency in Arabic suitable for the position.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Arabic or relevant discipline.
- Superior proficiency in Arabic.
- Experience teaching at the college level.

Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills to communicate successfully and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues and students.
Position Special Requirements & Additional Information
This may be a union position; union membership is determined by job duties. Positions exceeding 0.5 FTE are represented by AFMSU, with dues optional. If FTE changes, union status may be affected.
