Position Summary
An Edah Educator will nurture the learning, culture, and growth of the Edah afterschool program. With a deep care for children and educators, you'll facilitate diverse Hebrew language-infused learning opportunities to create an enriching environment.
Principal Responsibilities
Classroom Planning 📝
- Contribute to the continuous development of the Edah program and curriculum.
- Collaborate with the Edah Assistant Director to ensure lesson plans meet desired goals.
- Design and plan Hebrew lessons, Chug sessions, stations, and activities catering to various learning styles and abilities.
Student Support 🤝
- Work directly with students, supporting all aspects of the afterschool program.
- Implement individualized plans tailored to each student's needs.
Learning and Development 📚
- Engage in shared learning and observe colleagues to strengthen your skills and knowledge.
- Participate in bi-monthly staff meetings and professional development centered around inclusion and enrichment.
General Responsibilities 🌍
- Uphold the mission of the JCC East Bay and deepen knowledge of Jewish community, values, and traditions.
- Coordinate with administration on parent communication and other administrative tasks.
Compensation & Work Schedule
The salary for this position is up to $40.00/hour. The role involves working up to 20 hours per week. Please note, this position is not union-represented.

Minimum Qualifications ✅
- Experience and background in Jewish education and arts education.
- Fluency in Hebrew (native or highly proficient).
- Experience in childcare or similar settings.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Arts, or related field.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills to develop and implement plans.
- Leadership qualities to manage a classroom of children.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Physical ability to push/pull, lift/carry up to 50 pounds, and stand for extended periods.
- Flexibility to sit, get up quickly, bend, and maneuver in confined spaces when helping children.
- Responsiveness to the needs of young children without delay.
Salary Range 💰
The position offers an annual salary range of $35,000 - $45,000.
