Summary 📝

The Admissions Counselor, in collaboration with the Associate Director, is responsible for implementing recruitment and enrollment strategies for Mariano Moreno Culinary Institute. The role involves engaging prospective students and influencers via various communication channels—including phone, text, email, and in-person—to build relationships that attract and enroll both domestic and international first-year and transfer students. Additionally, the counselor reviews admission files and participates in on-campus events and group visits.

Essential Functions 🎯

Facilitate effective and timely communication with prospective students to guide them through each stage of the enrollment process—from inquiry to application to admission:

  • Fluent in both English and Spanish
  • Develop prospects from current students, faculty, referral leads, conferences, educational fairs, career days, campus tours, and special events
  • Determine each prospective student’s preferred communication method to ensure clear, complete, and anticipatory information transmission
  • Create and execute follow-up communications via phone, text, email, live chat, web, and social media channels
  • Handle inquiries promptly and accurately
  • Present information about programs, admission requirements, curriculum, and financial aid to prospects through various communication avenues
  • Maintain follow-up communication regarding application status and financial aid
  • Encourage campus visits and application submissions through personalized counseling
  • Guide prospective students and parents through decision-making and application processes
  • Promote student engagement with peers, faculty, staff, and mentors
  • Develop expertise in scholarship, grant, and financial aid policies, ensuring high-quality service and accuracy
  • Report daily, weekly, and monthly activities using CRM and SIS systems
  • Serve as the university’s spokesperson and first point of contact
  • Maintain a professional appearance and conduct aligned with Mariano Moreno Culinary Institute’s core values
  • Represent the institute’s brand and act as a content expert for prospective students, parents, teachers, and guidance counselors
  • Build and maintain relationships with alumni, community partners, and professional organizations to boost enrollment
  • Demonstrate cultural competency and effective communication tailored to diverse audiences
  • Prepare presentations for various groups of prospective and accepted students
  • Participate in on-campus and off-campus events
  • Act as the in-house admissions counselor by meeting with prospects and families
  • Coordinate with Financial Aid and Admissions departments to streamline application processes
  • Inform applicants of required credentials for admission decisions
  • Review student records to verify completeness and authenticity of credentials
  • Analyze marketing and enrollment data to forecast trends
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance workflow efficiency
  • Ensure confidentiality of all student, staff, and institutional information
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Knowledge & Skills 🔑

  • Digital Media: Knowledge of digital media production, communication, and dissemination techniques
  • Customer & Personal Service: Principles of client service, needs assessment, and satisfaction evaluation
  • Languages: Fluent in both English and Spanish
  • Marketing: Understanding of promotional principles and methods
  • MS Office Suite: Proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel
