Description of Position
The Foreign Language Department is seeking applications for a Part-Time Adjunct Faculty position in Japanese, starting in January 2027. The successful candidate will teach transfer-level First- and Second-semester Japanese courses across various instructional modalities, including face-to-face, online synchronous and asynchronous, and hybrid formats. The role emphasizes engaging, inclusive teaching that supports student learning and incorporates a culturally responsive curriculum.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver instruction aligned with established curriculum, course outlines, and schedules
- Create an environment fostering learning, discussion, and critical thinking
- Assess student progress and assign grades fairly
- Meet with students outside of class as needed
- Uphold professional conduct and ethics standards
- Maintain current knowledge of Japanese language and pedagogy
- Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time faculty member
- Maintain accurate academic records
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Master's degree in Japanese OR Bachelor's in Japanese plus a Master's in another language or Linguistics, or the equivalent.
Experience & Sensitivity: Demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of community college students, staff, and faculty.
