Monroe Community College is actively seeking qualified candidates for the position of Adjunct French Faculty, dedicated to fostering student success and engaging with a diverse community of learners. 🌍🎓
Position Overview
As an Adjunct Faculty, you will prepare and teach French courses across various modalities and locations, develop educational materials, and support student learning assessments. Classes may be scheduled during the day or evening at the Brighton and/or Downtown Campus, extension sites, or remotely. Reporting directly to the Chair of the World Languages and Cultures Department, the ideal candidate will demonstrate passion, mentorship, and a commitment to student development.
Primary Responsibilities
- Teach and evaluate: Deliver French courses and assess student performance following departmental and college guidelines.
- Mentorship: Serve as a liaison and mentor for instructors teaching dual enrollment courses to high school students.
- Curriculum Development: Prepare lesson plans and create engaging instructional materials.
- Record Keeping: Maintain attendance, grades, and related documentation adhering to policies.
- Innovative Pedagogy: Develop and implement new teaching strategies to enhance learning experiences.
- Professional Growth: Participate in pedagogical and academic discipline development activities.
- Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the department chair.

Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Educational Background: Master's degree or higher in French or a related field from a regionally accredited institution, or three+ years of French teaching experience.
- Language Skills: Bilingual proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking French.
- Availability: Willing to teach during daytime hours.
- Commitment: Demonstrated dedication to the community college philosophy.
- Technological Proficiency: Experience with relevant technology tools.
- Online Teaching: Interest or experience in developing and delivering online courses.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least two years of French as a second language teaching experience.
- Knowledge of diverse teaching strategies.
- Understanding of technology as an instructional tool.
- Experience managing computerized student records.
Compensation & Additional Information
Pay Rate (Fall 2025 & Spring 2026): Ranges from $1,217 to $1,484 per contact hour, based on adjunct rank.
Work Location Notice: Remote work outside New York State is generally not permitted due to tax and regulatory reasons. Temporary approvals may be granted under limited circumstances.
