Position Summary ✨
The instructor will coordinate, plan, prepare, present, and evaluate classroom instruction across various formats—face-to-face, hybrid, online, and remote—available during day, evening, or weekend sessions on any Prince George's Community College campus. The instructor must stay current in the discipline, continually exploring innovative teaching methods to engage diverse learners, organize instructional content effectively, and develop assessment tools to monitor student learning outcomes. Additionally, responsibilities include participating in professional development, academic advising, and curriculum design.
Minimum Qualifications 🎓
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification from an accredited college, university, or recognized organization.
- Degrees from accredited institutions verified via official transcripts.
- Professional experience may substitute for a master's degree at the discretion of the Vice President.
Area Specific Requirements
- Master's or terminal degree in related fields such as French, French language acquisition, linguistics, or literature/culture of French-speaking regions (France, Africa, the Americas).
- Native or near-native fluency in French.
- Applicable doctoral degrees (e.g., J.D., M.D., M.F.A.) for relevant teaching assignments.
- Professional certification or state licensure in the relevant area.

Essential Functions 📝
- Design, organize, and instruct curriculum aligned with course outcomes
- Deliver engaging coursework through face-to-face, hybrid, online, and remote formats using appropriate pedagogical principles and technology
- Complete mandated institutional and professional development trainings
- Facilitate instructional activities promoting student engagement and learning
- Assess student performance with aligned evaluation tools and provide timely feedback
- Conduct an orientation at the first class, covering syllabus, objectives, attendance, grading, textbooks, and resources
- Communicate important academic dates and course updates, maintain accurate electronic grade books, and finalize grades on schedule
- Maintain accurate records, submit reports to Department Chair or Program Coordinator, and participate in departmental evaluations
- Offer office hours, advise students, and refer them to appropriate resources
- Respond to student emails and calls within 48 hours, excluding weekends and holidays
