The Opportunity

We are seeking a Activity Coordinator (PACE) to enhance our Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). In this role, you will develop and coordinate recreational activities for our senior participants, ensuring they meet individual needs and program goals while adhering to regulations. This position is approved for full-time in-office work, with options for telework within California.

Your Role & Responsibilities

Program Support (80%)

  • Participate in a member-centered, performance-driven culture emphasizing high-quality service, dignity, and accountability.
  • Assist in departmental responsibilities, collaborating to achieve short-term and long-term objectives.
  • Coordinate and implement recreational activities, updating calendars, and working with teams to schedule entertainment and classes.
  • Oversee social programming at the day center, including current events and community outreach.
  • Conduct assessments and develop social and recreational goals tailored to each participant.
  • Maintain documentation, communicate participant updates, and report concerns to the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT).
  • Foster relationships with community organizations for performances and celebrations, coordinating outings when possible.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance activities and contribute to program improvements.
  • Attend IDT meetings and support participant care planning.

Additional Duties (10%)

  • Complete other projects and duties as assigned.

Are You a Fit for This Role?

  • Bachelor's degree in recreational therapy or a related field, plus at least 2 years of experience working with elderly or frail populations in the past 5 years, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CPR and First-Aid certification required or obtained within six months of hire.
  • Must acquire the Activity Coordinator State certification within 90 days of hiring.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish or Vietnamese is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in event planning or activity coordination.
  • Ability to design engaging activities for diverse groups with varying interests and abilities.

  • Build effective relationships with team members, community partners, and stakeholders.
  • Work independently with sound judgment and excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, organization, problem-solving, and project management capabilities.
  • Manage multiple projects and foster collaboration.
  • Leverage computer skills in Microsoft Office and relevant systems for documentation and reporting.

Physical Requirements

  • Proficiency in reading computer screens and printed materials.
  • Clear verbal communication skills, including enunciation.
  • Hearing ability for conversations and responses via various communication mediums.
  • Manual dexterity for typing, writing, and physical activity tasks, including lifting over 50 pounds.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Competitive salary with a pay range of $55,966 - $83,949 ($26.91 - $40.36/hr).

Work Environment

Depending on your work location, your environment may include:

  • Indoor, sedentary work at the 500/505 Building or remote locations, with moderate noise levels.
  • Indoor clinical settings serving elderly populations, potentially with hazardous conditions and louder noise levels.
  • Community-based environments that may involve outdoor work in varied weather, with moderate to loud noise levels.
