Job Summary
The Accounting Manager leads centralized financial functions across our hotel and restaurant portfolio. You will ensure the integrity of the General Ledger in compliance with GAAP, manage treasury and liquidity functions, and drive annual budgeting along with variance analysis. Acting as a strategic partner, you will translate complex financial data into actionable insights to support unit-level General Managers and Chefs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting & GAAP Compliance 📊
- Centralized Close: Lead month-end and year-end closing processes for multiple entities, ensuring all financial statements adhere to GAAP and industry standards (USALI/USAR).
- Technical Accounting: Manage hospitality-specific accounting issues such as ASC 842 (Lease Accounting), deferred revenue (gift cards/deposits), and accrual-based inventory reporting.
- Internal Controls: Establish and audit SOPs for cash handling, tip pooling, and revenue reconciliation across all locations.
2. Treasury & Cash Management 💰
- Liquidity Planning: Develop and maintain a 13-week rolling cash flow forecast to ensure funding for payroll, vendors, and debt obligations.
- CapEx & OpEx: Oversee funding for capital expenditure projects including renovations and equipment upgrades.
3. Budgeting & Variance Analysis (FP&A) 📈
- Annual Budget Development: Facilitate bottom-up budgeting, collaborating with department heads to set realistic revenue and expense targets.
- Budget vs. Actual Analysis: Produce detailed monthly variance reports; identify root causes such as prime cost leakages or market shifts.
- Re-Forecasting: Adjust quarterly forecasts based on seasonal, occupancy or market trend changes.
4. Hospitality Operational Support 🏨
- Prime Cost Oversight: Monitor F&B costs and labor percentages to detect outliers and optimize performance.
- Tax & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate filing of sales, occupancy, and property taxes (including Form 571-L).
- Vendor & Payroll Strategy: Manage centralized Accounts Payable to leverage bulk purchasing, and oversee payroll and tip-credit compliance.
5. Audit Management & Quarterly Reviews 📝
- Audit Liaison: Serve as the main contact for external auditors, managing supporting documentation and PBC lists.
- Quarterly "Flux" Analysis: Conduct deep-dive reviews of balance sheets and P&L, explaining trends and variances to stakeholders.
- Internal Controls: Implement and monitor control frameworks to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of accounting experience, preferably in hospitality or related industries.
- Proven ability to analyze complex financial data and generate insightful reports.
- At least 3 years’ experience in managing management accounts, budgets, and cash flow forecasts.
- Hands-on experience with computerized accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Margin Edge, SpotOn, and advanced MS Excel (including data modeling).
- Minimum of 5 years supervising finance staff.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Bilingual in Korean and English is a strong plus.
