Position Overview

Basic Purpose

This role owns assigned customer relationships, drives sales growth, enhances item and category penetration, and boosts profitability. You will coordinate efforts of the Customer Service Representative and Account Coordinator, leading them as a unified sales team to ensure optimal account service and alignment with customer contracts. The position requires a proven track record of sales achievement and comprehensive knowledge of our policies, products, and services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain existing accounts through personal visits and systematic follow-up. Travel required; expect at least four days per week in the field.
  • Achieve annual sales targets by growing and penetrating existing accounts.
  • Present new ideas and products from primary vendors and exclusive brands to secure account loyalty and penetration. Manage product mix to maximize profit goals and ensure contract compliance.
  • Communicate with customers regarding performance, new products, programs, and market trends—both informally and through periodic Business Reviews.
  • Take ultimate responsibility for the sales team's results (Account Coordinator and Customer Service Representatives). Lead the team to:
    • Ensure optimal service to accounts, coordinating with operational and purchasing functions as needed.
    • Maximize Account Executive (AE) time spent with customers.
    • Meet or exceed accounts receivable targets, coordinating with the central AR team as necessary.
    • Review all accounts for program compliance, develop tailored sales approaches, identify needs, and expand sales.
    • Maintain detailed profiles on all accounts, including order guides, statements, and overall reporting. Verify pricing accuracy regularly.
  • Attend sales meetings, training sessions, food shows, and conferences as required by management and customer demands.
  • Support the setup and rollout of new accounts as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Training

High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Business or Marketing preferred.

Related Experience

  • Minimum of three years in sales or distribution, preferably within the foodservice industry or related fields.
  • Experience in restaurant operations is desirable.
  • Experience utilizing both quantitative and qualitative research data will be advantageous.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong customer service and presentation abilities.
  • Proven problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel is required.

Compensation

Depends on relevant experience, education, specific skills, location, and other factors applicable by law. The expected base salary range for this role is $55,000 – $90,000.
