The Role & Responsibilities 🎯

We seek a motivated 8th Grade Special Education Teacher to deliver engaging, standards-based instruction, employ Responsive Classroom techniques, monitor student progress, and collaborate closely with colleagues to enhance teaching practices. Language proficiency in Hebrew is NOT required. We strongly encourage candidates from underrepresented backgrounds to apply.

Key Responsibilities 📝

  • Commit to high academic standards and believing in every student’s potential
  • Pursue professional growth through reflection and feedback
  • Provide instructional services aligned with student IEPs in reading, math, and writing
  • Implement prescribed instructional methods per IEP
  • Coordinate with school staff to support student needs
  • Communicate regularly with parents about student progress
  • Maintain an organized, professional classroom environment
  • Support students preparing for the NYS State Exam
  • Develop and deliver multifaceted curriculum that meets diverse needs
  • Differentiate instruction through various methods and modifications
  • Set and monitor IEP goals, strategies, and progress
  • Report student progress accurately and maintain detailed records
  • Use data to adapt teaching strategies
  • Engage in ongoing professional development
  • Participate in IEP meetings and parent conferences
  • Build strong relationships with students and families, fostering school culture
  • Fulfill professional obligations through effective work habits and collaboration

Who You Are 🌟

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (Master’s preferred)
  • Experience in K-12 classroom teaching is a plus
  • Background in urban, public charter, or Title I schools is beneficial
  • NY teacher certification or in progress is advantageous
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Legally authorized to work in the USA
