Key Responsibilities 🛠️

The Second Engineering Officer of Watch is entrusted with ensuring the safety and smooth operation of the vessel’s engineering systems, adhering strictly to international standards and company policies. Key duties include:

• Carrying out assigned watch duties in compliance with safety and operational regulations.
• Conducting a complete round with the team prior to the watch and taking over responsibility.
• Maintaining constant presence in the Engine Control Room (ECR) during the watch.
• Relieving the watch engineer if operational issues arise, with a maximum relief time of 15 minutes.
• Collaborating with the First Engineer for maintenance scheduling and resource allocation.
• Reporting equipment faults, abnormalities, and maintenance activities using the company’s approved system, AMOS.
• Ensuring no overdue work orders exist, and that spare parts and consumables are well-organized and stocked in advance.
• Leading and motivating officers and ratings to execute maintenance and repairs efficiently.
• Managing work hours and ensuring compliance with STCW and MLC regulations for crew and officers.
• Fostering a safety-focused environment by promoting health, safety, environmental, and energy awareness.
• Reporting incidents or occurrences that could impact vessel safety, security, or operational integrity to the Chief Engineer.

Additional Duties 🔧

In addition to the core responsibilities, the Second Engineer shall:

• Follow the Chief Engineer’s Standing and Night Orders.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer and Staff Chief Engineer.
