Join Our Team as a Bilingual Customer Service Representative! 🎉
We are seeking a dynamic individual fluent in both English and Spanish to serve as a vital point of contact in our Utilities Department, ensuring exceptional service for our diverse customer base.
Minimum Qualifications ⭐
- Education: High school diploma or GED; college courses in accounting, business, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: At least one year of customer service experience in a call center environment or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English and Spanish (writing, reading, and speaking) is required.
- Skills:
- Ability to multi-task and work under stressful and demanding situations
- Excellent oral and written bilingual communication skills
- Fast and accurate typing skills
- Effective problem-solving and resolution skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Assessment: Must pass an independent, third-party test demonstrating proficiency in English and Spanish speaking, writing, and reading — paid for by the county.
- Pre-employment requirements: Drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification.
Note: The successful candidate will receive a 5% salary increase over the advertised starting salary due to bilingual proficiency.
Duties & Responsibilities 🛠️
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all visitors at the Utilities Department, providing assistance in both English and Spanish.
- Offer information, research basic issues, and perform routine account collections, payment processing, and customer inquiries.
- Resolve complaints and explain policies and procedures effectively in both languages.
- Utilize bilingual skills extensively to assist Spanish-speaking customers access services and translate information as needed.
- Assist by interpreting information for Spanish-fluent customers in person, over the phone, and via email or written correspondence.
- Translate documents, correspondence, and customer information for staff and clients.
- Support services related to new connections, disconnections, billing questions, and account inquiries, including fee assessments and online/IVR payments.
- Investigate account and consumption histories, and respond to questions regarding charges and credit histories.
- Perform additional tasks as required to support departmental goals.
This role is part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) offering opportunities for growth and salary incentives, contingent on performance, qualifications, and available funding.
Work Details 📅
- Shift: Monday - Friday, with variation in daily hours:
- Monday: 8 hours
- Tuesday - Friday: 5 hours per day
- Work Location: Utilities Department
